I found this picture of an interesting DeSoto concept wagon. Can’t seem to find much information about it, though. I kinda like it.

The wing looks like the one that ‘57 Dodge models used. And the front fenders resemble ‘57 Plymouth’s style. But the front bumper is definitely in De soto style. I guess they were still trying to construct “model i den tities” for diffe rent branches. The roof style is similar than what used in ‘56 Plymouth Plainsman concept (which was a running car and it has survived) .

The picture of the mystery concept appears in a book “Designing America’s Cars - The 50s”. It has another picture of it in the Dodge pages. This picture reveals that it has mismatched wings. The right one is in the Plymouth style. W hen you know this you can also see the difference in the title picture too. It might have had Desoto written on the hood but they might have been trying various of identities for it.

In the Plymouth pages a similar wagon appears too. It does have ‘57 Plym outh wings and front fenders but the front bumper looks like the Desoto style .   The g rey color and the supports under it hints that it’s a non- running clay model. The Desoto wagon is likely too but the y have at least applied paint over it. It’s also possible that t hese tw o are actually the same concept during the creation process.

But I do like the front end of the mystery concept . Too bad they didn’t use it. Not sure about the rear part though...
